Welcome to this Space
Welcome!!
This jumble of a blog touches everything I think about on a daily basis. I am constantly changing, questioning and speculating the wonders that this world has to offer.
As a African-American, dark-skinned woman with natural hair I have encountered some not-so-pretty things. It has shaped how I view the world, and especially my philosophy of things.
As a HUGE geek I have always been a fan of comics, anime, super-heros and underdogs. I can really relate to them aha..
As a nerd I love science, medicine, and physics.
As a scientist I find trouble in my research and I am super close to giving up…I also see how interconnected things are, which shaped my spirituality. For example: did you know that studying astronauts way up in space helps us understand how we can treat diseases such as osteoporosis? Isn’t that beautiful? We constantly push to explore new boundaries and sometimes it ends up benefiting us back at home! This is why we should care about space.
As a student who wants to go into the medical field I see health disparities, stigmas and the need to change our healthcare system. I see student burnout, I have experienced burnout and I see a flaw in our system that cannot continue if we want to look out for the wellbeing of our nation.
I’m also a makeup geek; I love it but I don’t think I’m too good. This section will be interactive; I will be posting looks (mostly eyeshadows) and hopefully people can give me feedback (constructive criticism is amazing by the way, but not insults). If I don’t get feedback it will be an awkward scream into the abyss of the internet but either way I’ll be expressing myself.
And last but certainly not least: expressing yourself.
We tend to get caught up in the harsh realities of life, causing us to isolate and shut down. The culture nowadays is so hectic- from keeping up on social media to keeping up with real friends. As Elon Musk once said, we are essentially cyborgs when we go on our phones. We really create an image of ourselves through social media that sometimes we care too much about and not enough on real life.
It seems as if Plato’s allegory to the cave is coming to fruition yet once again in this media age. Our caves are our ultra-curated to have us see only what you want to see. We entertain ourselves with the contentment of our light source (our phones, internet) giving us images that we want to see.
If I’m hagging on social media so much, why did I create this site?
Because I believe if I already have a profile of my likes, dislikes and fears out on the internet, I may as well keep most of them collected on here, so there is a human aspect to every “like” I click on, or every article I repost.
Think of it as a scrapbook, where someone can really peer into this online side of me.
